General Managers Meeting held in Liverpool
Shirley® recently hosted the 2019 annual OEKO-TEX® General Managers Meeting in Liverpool.
Attendees were made up of Managing Directors from each of the 18 OEKO-TEX® Institutes located worldwide.
The group met to discuss the chemical safety of textile garments and to make key contributions to the global discussion surrounding environmentally sustainable textile production.
OEKO-TEX® is proud to have launched schemes such as STeP® and MADE IN GREEN® which tackle the very real issues surrounding environmentally sustainable textile production as well as supply chain transparency. This complements the work Shirley® undertakes with UK fashion and textile brands in improving the textile industry’s attitude towards social and environmental sustainability.
From the maritime stories of the Albert Docks to the tale of the Beatles, Liverpool is undoubtably a city steeped in history and culture. The Liverpudlian venue, Hope Street Hotel was a great choice as guests were able to enjoy expansive city views and experience the buzz of the city.
To mark the occasion Shirley® closed the final night of the event with a private occasion held at Liverpool Anglican Cathedral. A champagne reception and an organ demonstration by Ian Tracey followed by dinner marked the group’s final night together and was certainly an evening to remember.
